The workload
A Nigerian trading business uses connected purchasing, sales and stock modules that must remain consistent.
Test workflows across modules rather than isolated screens. Account for database growth, scheduled jobs and heavy reporting during stock or accounting periods.
Measure the busiest useful workflow
For erp applications, the starting measurements are transaction latency and batch-report duration. Use a realistic dataset and record quiet-period and busy-period results separately. A fresh installation with no history, uploads or simultaneous users does not represent the environment you will eventually operate.

Build a capacity worksheet
Record the observed CPU peak, working memory, persistent storage, temporary storage and data transfer for the same test window. Include the operating system, monitoring and backup activity. Distinguish sustained pressure from a short spike before deciding which resource is limiting progress.
Use this acceptance check when comparing two configurations: A representative purchase-to-stock-to-sale workflow completes with consistent linked records. If the faster configuration fails this workflow, its headline benchmark is not enough to justify a purchase.
Test from Nigerian user networks
Run the erp applications workflow from the office connection and at least one mobile connection your users rely on. Record the test location and network alongside server measurements. A Nigeria-focused product page does not establish where the server is physically hosted; confirm the offered region and measure the route before choosing it.
Turn results into a purchasing decision
Compare the measured requirement with the exact available plan, including usable disk, transfer allowance and upgrade options. Ask what happens when a limit is reached. Confirm software compatibility and licensing separately; hardware capacity alone does not establish whether the complete application is supported.
Budget in naira using the current checkout price. Add backup storage, paid software, maintenance and a contingency appropriate to your business. Save the assumptions and repeat the test when workload or user behaviour changes.
Server sizing worksheet
Use these prompts in your project notes. Replace general targets with measurements and an accountable owner.
| Decision | What to record |
|---|---|
| Representative load | transaction latency and batch-report duration |
| Business pass condition | A representative purchase-to-stock-to-sale workflow completes with consistent linked records. |
| Recovery overhead | Use an application-consistent backup covering the database and files. Validate linked sales, purchasing and stock records rather than checking only that the login page loads. |
| Re-test trigger | A sustained rise in the limiting metric, a major application change, or a workload that no longer meets its agreed target. |
How much RAM does erp applications need?
There is no reliable figure based only on the application name or number of registered users. Measure the active working set during your representative workflow, include supporting services and leave documented operating headroom. Compare that evidence with a plan you can expand when needed.
Choose infrastructure around the workload
Compare current Dedicated Server options and naira pricing. Confirm the server region, included services, operating-system compatibility, licensing and backup arrangements for the specific plan before ordering.
